It gives that player a statistical advantage. A simple black-and-white metaphor for real world privilege.

So we convinced Anomaly to fund a board of our own. One where Black Goes First.
Where youth chess players could see Black get the advantage.

Then we got it signed by Jay-Z, RZA, Carmello Anthony, and the first ever Black chess Grandmaster Maurice Ashley.

We put it up for auction and donated the proceeds to Black youth chess.
